| CompTIA A+ and Windows 7 |
Of course with all the press about the upcoming version of Windows. Officially named Windows 7, one might wonder why CompTIA's going to do about A+ and Windows 7. This is the question Tcat Houser and GetCertify4Less.com has been asking ourselves and doing a bit of research. We that would like to share with you.
Windows 7 is impressing us in beta-1 as we are seeing it run on these new less than 1 kg laptops known as "net books", and doing pretty good with what would be previously considered a rather weak CPU. And in your gigabyte of memory.
In the first quarter of 2009 we are seeing that network modifications are showing up where it is possible to change up the RAM and or hard drive. If they did not does not come with a solid-state hard drive, you can be sure this makes a valid A+ CompTIA question.
The next question that comes up is when will these questions go in? Direct answer is: As Soon As Possible
Tcat is of the opinion that Windows 7 will become a serious part of the A+ examination for a number of reasons. These include:
One. CompTIA always likes to say, "what's new?" They do this to keep the brain dump people off guard by changing your questions and forcing them into a game of catch-up.
Two. CompTIA goes to its members, and say what's important to you? Then they asked him how important is it to you? Is it so important to you you're willing to fund for new test development of these questions?
It does not take a rocket scientist to know that Microsoft really wants Windows 7 to take off after with the turd it laid with Windows Vista. I am not saying Windows Vista is a bad operating system, especially after it has seen several service packs. And there is no denying that any enterprise, Windows Vista has not seen acceptance by anybody's measure, even Microsoft's. They can go in point all the Vista licensing sales that want to and anybody enterprise knows. All those Vista licensing sales corporations were downgraded back to XP.
InfoWorld states that Vista has not seen much better than 10% market share. Even though it was looking to replace XP released in 2001.
So certainly they are looking to take the long-standing egg off of their face by coming out with Windows 7. Does it take a big stretch of the imagination to imagine Microsoft blocking at throwing a few thousand dollars CompTIA to develop questions around Windows 7, as they promote the hell out of it?
And Tcat is not done with his rant. Another InfoWorld columnist has brought up a real interesting point, late February 2009. When he brought up a few legitimate questions about Windows 7. In his next week's column, he informed us that he was slammed with hate mail.
He was quite surprised because he was asking in his mind fair questions. And frankly, I must agree. So his musings were then that many of us geeks want to give Microsoft a pass after the Vista fiasco and are looking to make Windows 7 a great product even before it has been vetted out.
Sadly, I agree, however. It was not without some smile, and being amused by his comment where he called Windows 7, the Macintosh for the rest of us.
In short, all this leads me to believe that CompTIA and the A+ 2009 examination will be slipstreamed with new questions right after it comes out. This will keep the bring dumpers off guard. Add, justified by the championing of Windows 7 by the geeks (a least most of us), and a few thousand bucks wind up in the coffers of the CompTIA treasury. Adds up to a bunch of Windows 7 questions to me.
